First-party storage

PopulationGuessr uses localStorage for lightweight game and interface preferences. Examples include whether the tutorial has been hidden, selected theme and basemap, last selected game mode, local personal best scores, and privacy notice choice.

The game may also use an anonymous browser identifier and server-side session data to operate anonymous game sessions and basic abuse prevention.

If you sign in, Supabase Auth may use cookies or local storage to keep you signed in and refresh your authentication session.

Analytics

Google Analytics may be loaded if non-essential analytics are accepted. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers to measure aggregate site usage, traffic sources, device/browser information, approximate geography, and performance.

Advertising

If Google AdSense is enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, and similar identifiers to deliver ads, measure ad performance, prevent fraud, limit repeated ad display, and personalize ads where allowed.

You can opt out of personalized ads via Google Ad Settings and from some third-party vendors via aboutads.info/choices.

Map providers

The map loads resources from external providers, including OpenFreeMap, OpenStreetMap-based services, and Esri/ArcGIS. Those requests may involve normal web request metadata and any technologies used by those providers on their own domains.

Changing your choices

You can clear browser storage and cookies in your browser settings. If advertising is enabled for users in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the site should also provide a Google-certified CMP consent message where users can manage or withdraw ad consent choices.

Deleting PopulationGuessr account data from the account page removes server-side game/profile data for the signed-in user, but it does not clear browser localStorage or cookies on your device. Use your browser controls if you also want to clear local site data.
